On Wednesday 12th March, Team Car Seat Ninja were lucky though to be invited to the Axkid UK launch event for their brand new high-back booster - the Axkid Up.
We had a sneak peek at last year’s Baby and Children Safety Conference in Gothenburg, Sweden and since then, it has generated a lot of buzz, especially after winning a prestigious design award from the BPIA at the Harrogate Nursery Fair in October. Needless to say, this has been a highly anticipated addition to Axkid’s range of child seats.
The Axkid Up features the innovative HeightControl™ technology, which cleverly integrates with a vehicle’s own safety systems. This ensures that older children benefit from the same level of protection as adults from curtain airbags — all while maintaining optimal seatbelt positioning to reduce the risk of serious injury to their developing bodies.
Designed for children between 100–150 cm (approximately 4 to 12 years), the Axkid Up offers three height settings and an adjustable backrest for a customised fit as your child grows. While both Axkid and Car Seat Ninja recommend rear-facing up to the maximum limit of an ERF seat (typically around 125 cm) whenever possible, we recognise there are situations where this may not be an option. In those cases, the Axkid Up provides a safe and thoughtful solution, suitable from 100 cm, offering consistent protection and comfort as your child transitions to a high-back booster.
What truly sets the Axkid Up apart is its solid steel frame with an integrated ISOFIX system and support leg — a first in dedicated high-back boosters. This unique combination enhances stability and helps absorb forces caused by forward rotation in a crash.
The seat’s deep, supportive headrest features extra-wide belt guides to ensure a natural belt angle, while the adjustable backrest offers comfort tailored to both your child and your vehicle. The addition of ErgoSupport™ further promotes healthy posture, making it ideal for long journeys.
Parents with multiple children will love the slim base design, removable side impact wings, and stowable support leg, which make it more likely to fit into small middle seats — making 3 across possible in a wider range of cars.
When it’s not in use, the QuickFold™ feature allows the Axkid Up to be easily folded for travel or storage. It even comes with a custom travel bag, making it perfect for families on the go.
Additional thoughtful features include a clip-on footrest to support dangling legs and a crash-tested cup holder for easy access to drinks during longer trips.
The Axkid Up will be available in five beautiful colours, already well-loved across the Axkid range (including the ONE3 and Minikid 4Max): Coastal Storm Black; Arctic Mist Grey; Glacier Lake Blue; Nordic Bloom Green; and Beach Grass Beige.
We’re incredibly excited to see this seat finally hit the UK market this May — it’s a real game-changer for families looking for advanced safety, comfort, and flexibility in a high-back booster.
